Simplon began to look internationally in 2014 when a trainee from the first Montreuil course returned to her home country and opened the first Simplon factory outside of France,  in Cluj, Romania. Since then, we have opened new factories (social digital schools) in Europe, West Africa, and in the Middle East.

Our mission remains unchanged – to offer to underprivileged people free and intensive digital trainings to help them find a job in the digital sector, while adapting our activities to local job markets.

Today, we are expanding our horizons to North Africa, American continents, and Asia.

Cluj, Romania

Simplon’s mission in Romania is to provide everyone with digital skills training, starting from the youngest. Since 2014, Simplon Romania has organised 70 events with a total turnout of about 10,000 participants. 350 adults have been trained and 2,000 have started learning how to code, thanks to our workshops. Today, 86% of our graduates work in the digital sector. We work with big corporations like Orange Romania, Google, and sponsors like Romanian American Foundation but also with local IT firms like Telenav, RubyTribe, and Bosch Foundation to develop digital skills programmes for children. Johannesbourg, South Africa

In partnership with SAP and SCI-Bono, a new social digital factory has been built in Johannesburg. 15 trainees, coming from the townships, have since followed an accelerated training course in web development. Learn more here


Bogota, Colombia

Alongside the French Institute, Simplon organised a hackathon to explore new forms of online participation. The event lasted 3 days and brought together 15 young “human rights ambassadors” who are involved in local associations and come from all around Latin America.

Bouaké, Ivory Coast

The Boauké Social Digital Factory opened its doors with the help of the Life Builders Foundation, allowing for 19 young job job seekers and IT graduates looking to develop their skills to be trained in web and mobile technology. Learn more here


Bamako, Mali

The French Institute, the France Africa Summit and Simplon organised a hackathon on the topic of “Culture and Heritage” which brought together 24 participants. At the end of the 3 days, 4 projects highlighting Africa’s photographic heritage were presented.

Rome, Italy

We’ve had an educational partnership with Groupama, Codemotion, LuissEnLabs, and the MAXXI museum while involved in a 3-month bootcamp in Rome. From September to December 2017, 21 young adults were trained to front-end web development.


Beirut, Lebanon

Codi, our lebanese partner, launched their first web development training session in April 2017 in Beirut. During 6 months, the trainees followed programming courses and participated in workshops and professional networking opportunities. The second session started in November 2017, and the third one is in the process of being assembled.

BeCode, our Belgian partner since April 2017, has already built 6 social digital factories in Bruxelles and one in Charleroi, for a total mounting up to 155 people trained or in the process of training. BeCode anticipates future development in Bruxelles, Wallonia, and Flanders.

The Sonatel Academy is an associate of Simplon since 2017. The first session accounts for 50 trainees in Dakar, and the second session will see light Summer 2018. Learn more here

In March 2018 Simplon.AUF@Dakar opens its doors in the C-NEUF of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) with the support of Société Générale Foundation. Learn more here

Barcelona, Spain

In Spring 2018, Barcelona welcomes its first social digital factory with our Spanish partner, Factoria F5. Factoria F5 anticipates future development across all of Spain.
