The coding alphabet is something that can be learned from a young age. To understand computer language is to understand the functioning of tools that are part of our daily life, and therefore to learn how to use them in a critical and responsible way.

But it’s also a learning experience. Understanding computer language means learning how to learn, or relearning how to learn for certain people.

At Simplon.co, the introduction to coding is finally a pedagogical modality as each trainee at every Simplon.co factory leads at least one coding intitiation workshop during their training!

Would you like to organize a custom-made introductory coding workshop?

Our projects

European Code Week

The European Code Week is a program supported by the European Commission for the introduction of coding and computer thinking to children and young people.

Following the 2015 and 2016 sessions, Simplon.co was again an ambassador of the 2017 European Code Week held under the high patronage of the National Ministry of Education. The official launch of the program was held at the National Ministry of Education in presence of Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer.

During the 2017 European Code Week, Simplon.co trainees led nearly 150 code initiation workshops in about thirty schools from the CE1 level to the Terminale level. Classes also had the chance to discover the digital world by visiting our social digital factories in Paris, Aulnay and Lyon and our solidarity FabLab.

Thus, 2,500 young people had the chance to discover coding and computer thinking throughout France!

Hour of code

Hour of Code is a worldwide movement supported by Microsoft’s Code.org platform, which aims to demystify computer code and show that anyone, no matter what their age, can learn the basics.

After the 2015 and 2016 sessions, and thanks to the support of Microsoft, Simplon.co once again led the deployment of the Hour of Code action in France under the patronage of the National Ministry of Education.

From December 4th to 10th, 2017, Simplon.co trainees hosted more than 300 introductory workshops on programming and connected objects in more than 100 schools from the CE1 level to the Terminale level.

Thus, nearly 7,000 children and young people had the chance to discover coding and computer thinking.
